Scaramouche – Starts her role as a Training Vessel!

Last night saw Scaramouche make her way down the River Stour and out into coastal waters.  Under power she left the boat yard and headed for the sea.  The fantastic work and support that we have had from Highway Marine has been amazing and our thanks go to them for embracing the project and for all the extra help, advice and time.

Once she was in the water everything and everybody had to be loaded aboard and she could leave the quay.

Scaramouche back in her natural element!

The report from the boat describes an excellent beginning!

This morning was an early start and the journey round the coast began on a favourable tide.  There were dolphins at Dover!  All the crew have had their first lessons at the helm and on the navigation table.  Our Skipper – Pete Green – has such a great manner with the kids and they are learning fast.   “I’m learning about tides  and the use of an almanac – didn’t know what one of those was this morning!”   “This is a great way to spend  summer!” The plan is to get sails up as we go past Dungeness.  We shall see…
